Matte nickel safety rosette round

A round matte nickel security rosette is an SKG-certified round cover element (Ø60-70 mm) with integrated core pull protection that shields the profile cylinder recess on a front door against burglary attempts. Reinforced steel core (10-15 mm) and tested for resistance to core pull attacks. The round shape matches round handle rosettes and classic front doors. At Deurbeslag Expert, you will find the following models: Intersteel Security Rosette SKG3 Matte Nickel (3-star SKG mark, 5-minute resistance, electroplated matte nickel) and Formani LBVEIL-KT Solid security cylinder rosette PVD matte nickel (premium design mark, titanium PVD coating, 15+ years UV resistant without color loss). Order before 8:00 PM? Then your rosette will be on your doorstep the next working day.

A round security rosette is a specific design version of an SKG-approved cylinder rosette. It is a round cover element (typically Ø60-70 mm) with integrated core pull protection that shields the profile cylinder recess on the front door or heavy interior door against burglary attempts. Unlike a standard cylinder rosette (an aesthetic cover element), a security rosette is reinforced with a thick steel core (10-15 mm) and tested for resistance against core pull attacks (where a burglar pulls out the profile cylinder using special pullers). The round shape complements round handle rosettes and classic front doors with soft, organic forms. You will find models in the round nickel security rosette collection at Deurbeslag Expert. From Intersteel (Dutch since 1959. Security rosette with core pull protection SKG3 in Matte Nickel) and Formani (Dutch premium design brand. LBVEIL-KT Solid security cylinder rosette in PVD matte nickel).

Two specialized versions

Both versions in this small but specific collection are SKG certified. Intersteel Security Rosette SKG3 Matte Nickel. Three-star SKG seal of approval (5 minutes resistance against targeted burglary attempt with drill, crowbar, and lock puller). Integrated core pull protection in the cylinder pass-through. Solid construction with reinforced steel core. Matte nickel electroplated surface. For those seeking villa-grade front door security at an affordable price point. Formani LBVEIL-KT Solid security cylinder rosette PVD matte nickel. Premium designer brand version with titanium PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating. The 'KT' in the product code stands for 'Core Pull Protection'. PVD coating provides 15+ years of UV resistance without color loss. Investment product for those building a 25+ year front door package. Solid cast brass base with PVD matte nickel finish.

SKG**® or SKG***® quality mark?

Important safety distinction for SKG-certified security rosettes. SKG**® (two stars). Tested for 3 minutes of resistance to a hand tool burglary attempt. Meets the PKVW minimum (Police Quality Mark for Safe Living) and standard insurance requirements for contents coverage. For the average Dutch front door in a normal neighborhood. SKG***® (three stars). Tested for 5 minutes with heavier tools. Intersteel SKG3 version in this collection. For villa insurance with a premium discount, front doors directly on the street in burglary-prone areas, or for the maximum security level. In practice: SKG** is sufficient for 90% of Dutch front doors; SKG*** is required for specific insurance packages or when a burglary risk is reported directly by the local police. If in doubt: ask your insurer.

When do you choose round versus square?

The choice of shape between round (this collection) and square/rectangular (see matte nickel security rosette collection category) depends on your door hardware package and architecture. Choose round when: your door handle is mounted on a round rosette (visual consistency); your front door is classic, Art Deco, or monumental from the 1930s; you want to emphasize soft organic forms; your existing cylinder recess is round. Choose square or rectangular: with a square handle rosette and for an industrial interior. Visual consistency: when in doubt, choose the same shape as your door handle rosette. A round security rosette with a round handle rosette always looks visually calmer than a mix of shapes. For a classic 1930s residential front door where the other hardware is round: a round security rosette is the logical choice.

Matte nickel galvanic versus PVD

The two versions in this collection feature different matte nickel finish techniques. Intersteel matte nickel electroplated. Electroplated nickel layer, 600-800 HV hardness, 3-5 years UV resistant on a south-facing front door. Affordable; suitable for the average Dutch front door. Formani matte nickel PVD. Italian PVD coating technique, 4000-4500 HV hardness (5-10× stronger), 15+ years UV resistant without color loss. For those investing in a 25+ year front door package without maintenance concerns regarding color. Practical difference: after 5 years, matte electroplated nickel on a south-facing front door will show slight discoloration; PVD remains unchanged for 15+ years. Price difference: Formani PVD is typically 50-80 euros per piece; Intersteel electroplated 25-40 euros. For a villa-grade investment: Formani PVD. For conventional residential construction: Intersteel galvanic.

Sizes and compatibility

Three dimensions determine whether a round security rosette fits your front door. Rosette outer diameter: Ø60-70 mm, common European standard. Intersteel and Formani are both in this range. Measure the existing rosette diameter when replacing to maintain visual continuity. Cylinder pass-through cutout: 17 mm round for profile cylinder (European standard). Fits common PC cylinders from Nemef, Cisa, ABUS, Pfaffenhain, Yale, and BURG-WÄCHTER. Rosette thickness: 10-15 mm reinforced. Thicker than standard cylinder rosettes (5-7 mm) due to the steel core for core pull resistance. Drilling distance: 38 mm center-to-center, Dutch standard, or sometimes 50 mm for specific versions. Door panel thickness: 38-60 mm, front door standard. Both versions fit.

Combine with other nickel security fittings

The round security rosette is one component of a complete burglar-resistant front door version. Matte nickel security rosette collective category for all shapes. Security rosette head hub for all colors. Security hardware hub for all SKG-certified hardware. Matte nickel front door hardware for matching complete escutcheon version. Matte nickel front door knob for matching fixed knob. Nickel back door hardware set for matching handle/handle version on back door. SKG 3-star cylinders for matching PC72/PC92 cylinder with SKG3 certification. Round nickel profile cylinder rosette for standard (non-security) cylinder rosettes. For other color security rosettes: matte chrome round security rosette, antique grey round security rosette, brushed stainless steel security rosette. Hubs: nickel door hardware, matte nickel door hardware.

Installation and maintenance

Installing a security rosette requires slightly more precision than a standard rosette due to the thicker construction and SKG requirements. 1. Remove existing rosette: Loosen 2-4 M5 screws (security rosettes have standard M5 instead of M4 for greater force transfer), remove the old rosette. 2. Check cylinder position: The profile cylinder must be exactly centered in the recess. Not protruding (gives a burglar grip) and not sunk too deep (potential problems with key operation). 3. Place new rosette and screw it tight: Use the supplied M5 bolts, tighten hand-tight but do not overtighten. Twisting under force must remain possible. Maintenance: Intersteel galvanic. Once a month, use a damp microfiber cloth; avoid scouring pads and aggressive cleaners; Formani PVD. Maintenance-free; wiping once a month is sufficient. For cylinder mechanism: twice a year, apply dry Teflon spray into the keyhole (NOT WD-40).
