A back door hardware set is a complete handle/handle on rosetteversion specifically designed for the back door of a home. Both sides feature a door handle (no fixed knob on the outside as with front door sets), with a security rosette around the profile cylinder and core pull protection (KTB) to prevent the cylinder from being pulled out during burglary attempts. In the nickel-finish collection at Deurbeslag Expert, you will find 27 Artitec Mi Satori SKG3 versions. All are SKG*** (three stars, villa-grade) certified back door installations, in 14 design models (Linea, Linea XL, Art-Deco, Ton, Ton ebony, Nouveau, Nouveau ebony, Roman, Antique ebony Elegant, Frankfurt, Halfsabel, Bonton ebony, Padania, Dual, Kare, Bauhaus, Bauhaus ebony), and three nickel finishes (gloss nickel/gloss chrome, matte nickel/matte nickel PVD, antique nickel/antique chrome). Artitec Mi Satori is a Dutch premium brand specializing in monumental hardware. For 1930s homes and authentic back door renovations requiring the SKG quality mark.

What is the handle/handle version and why for a back door?

For a front door, a knob/handleconfiguration is common: a fixed knob on the outside (cannot turn, only unlockable with a key), and a handle on the inside (to open). For a back door, a handle/handleconfiguration is common: a handle on both sides, because you want to be able to enter from the outside with your key and be able to open it immediately from the inside without a key. The reason for a handle/handle on a back dooris practical daily use (bringing groceries in, taking out the trash, entering and leaving the garden) where constantly turning the key is impractical. Security is ensured by the cylinder and the key-locking bolt: from the outside, you can only unlock the bolt by turning the key and cylinder; the core pull protection prevents burglars from pulling out the cylinder with a screwdriver.

SKG***® quality mark and what it means

All 27 Artitec Mi Satori sets in this collection bear the SKG***® three-star mark (Foundation for Quality Facade Elements). The highest Dutch security certification for facade hardware. SKG***® specification: tested against a 5-minute targeted burglary attempt using hand tools (drill, lock puller, crowbar); core pull protection integrated into the rosette; solid construction against turning and twisting. Difference from SKG**® (2 stars): SKG** offers 3 minutes of resistance. Meets the PKVW minimum (Police Quality Mark for Safe Living) for residential construction but is insufficient for villas and backstreet doors where the risk of burglary is higher. When SKG***® is required: back door directly facing the garden/backstreet; back door that is also accessible to burglars at night; insurance requirement for premium discounts on anti-burglary packages.

Four-element package per set

A nickel back door hardware set contains all components for one door. Complete version for both sides. 1. Two door handles (one per side) in a matching design and finish. 2. Two security escutcheons (one per side). Protect the profile cylinder and feature a central recess for PC55/PC72/PC92 cylinders. 3. Anti-core pulling protection (KTB). Integrated into the outer escutcheon, prevents the cylinder from being pulled out using cylinder pullers (a common burglary method with standard escutcheons). 4. Mounting material. Screws, 8 mm square spindle, optional intermediate spring mechanisms, in a matching nickel finish. Not included in the set: the profile cylinder itself (select SKG**® or SKG***® PC55/PC72 cylinder separately) and the underlying cylinder lock in the door (the existing lock remains, select a replacement lock if necessary).

14 Artitec Mi Satori design models

The collection offers 14 different door handle designs with a nickel finish. For various interior trends and architectural styles. Classic Monumental: Roman (solid classic form), Ton en Ton Ebony (classic Dutch style with ebony handle end), Bonton Ebony (decorative classic with ebony detail). Art Deco: Art Deco (geometric 1920s line), Nouveau en Nouveau Ebony (1900s Art Nouveau with floral detail), Halfsabel (sword-shaped detail). Bauhaus / Modern Monumental: Bauhaus en Bauhaus Ebony (sleek 1920s-1930s functionalism), Linea en Linea XL (sleek linear form, XL for greater ergonomics), Dual (double line detail), Kare (square cross-section). Renaissance / Italian: Antique Ebony Elegant (classic with antique finish and ebony), Frankfurt (German Classic), Padania (Italian Classic). Which design? Matches the architecture of the building and other interior hardware.

Three nickel finishes and how to choose

Artitec offers three SKG3 finish combinations. Gloss nickel / gloss chrome. Exterior gloss nickel (warmer silver sheen), interior gloss chrome (brighter silver), or both gloss nickel. For luxury classic villas where the 1930s or Art Deco look is enhanced with a gleaming finish. Matches polished taps and fixtures. Matte nickel / matte nickel PVD. Muted satin nickel on both sides with PVD coating (15+ years UV resistant). For modern renovation of a listed home where a muted, fingerprint-resistant finish is desired. Matches matte finish taps, matte tiles, and modern bathroom designs. Antique nickel / antique chrome. Patinated dark nickel finish that looks instantly authentic. For restoration projects where new fittings should not feel visually 'new'. For specific models (Nouveau Ebony, Antique Ebony Elegant, Bonton Ebony, Ton Ebony). For deep monumental renovations.

PC size and compatibility with your cylinder

A set of back door hardware on a backplate/rosette must match the profile cylinder installed in the door. PC55 (residential standard): 30/30 mm cylinder, center-to-center 55 mm. Common in older homes and residential construction. PC72 (common back door): 31/41 mm cylinder, center-to-center 72 mm. Most common on Dutch back doors. PC92 (higher security): 31/61 mm cylinder, center-to-center 92 mm. For extra-long knob sides or in new construction where a widened lock is installed. PC72 is common in Artitec Mi Satori SKG3 sets. If in doubt: measure your existing cylinder beforehand and send us a photo. Backset: 50, 55, or 60 mm. Measure your existing lock or consult with us. Square spindle: 8 mm common.

Combine with other back door package

The nickel back door set is part of the complete back door security package. Back door hardware on escutcheon hub for all color versions. Nickel front door hardware for matching knob/handle version on the front. Security hardware hub for all SKG-approved hardware. Matte nickel security rosette and round matte nickel security rosette for matching rosette version on other doors. For matching cylinders: SKG 3-star cylinders (PC55/PC72/PC92 for maximum security). Cylinder locks for the underlying lock. Nickel cylinder locks for matching finish. Nickel locks collection category. Nickel hinges for matching hinge version. Hubs: nickel door hardware, matte nickel door hardware.

Maintenance of nickel SKG3 fittings

SKG3 security hardware is exposed to the weather elements (rain, frost, UV) and requires careful maintenance for lasting safety and appearance. Routine cleaning: once a month, use a damp microfiber cloth with lukewarm water; for fingerprints, add a drop of neutral pH soap, then wipe dry. By finish: gloss nickel. Wipe water stains dry immediately after rain; matte nickel PVD. Maintenance-free due to PVD coating; antique nickel. Use only dry microfiber to preserve the patinated finish. Absolutely avoid: scouring pads, ammonia (Glassex), acetone, vinegar, citric acid, and chlorine-based cleaners. These can dull the coating over time. Lubrication of cylinder mechanism: twice a year, apply dry Teflon or graphite spray into the keyhole (NOT WD-40 or oil. Attracts dust and causes the pin mechanism to seize). Handle spindle and handle spring: Apply dry Teflon to the spindle passage once a year. KTB rosette fastening: Check once a year that the screws are still tight. Twisting during an attempted break-in can cause loosening.
