Custom cylinders are profile cylinders that are fitted exactly to your home's situation. Not from stock, but made to order. Three customization options: the exact length (internal and external dimensions in mm), the number of keys (typically 3-5, up to 20+), and keying alike (one key for multiple cylinders). A custom cylinder is a profile cylinder that is fitted exactly to your home situation. Not available from stock, but made to order. Three customization options: the exact length (inner and outer dimensions in mm as the cylinder protrudes from the door on both sides), the number of keys (typically 3-5, can go up to 20+), and keying alike (one key for multiple cylinders: front door, back door, shed. Handy for large homes or businesses). This prevents waste of overlap length, double keys, or asymmetrical cylinder projection. Ordering a custom cylinder takes 5-15 working days depending on the manufacturer. Not available from stock.

German premium cylinder brand with patent-running key mechanism), M&C Matrix (Matrix SKG2 and SKG3. Dutch premium with SI security card and registered key applications), and Pfaffenhain (assembling profile cylinders SKG2 & SKG3. Classic German cylinder brand). When ordering, please specify the cylinder length (measure precisely on your door), the number of keys, and any desired keying alike with other cylinders.

How do you measure a cylinder length?

The cylinder length has two numbers separated by a slash: for example, 30/35. The first number is the internal dimension (distance from the center of the cylinder to the inside of the door, excluding the rosette); the second is the external dimension. For a correct measurement:

Remove the cylinder from the lock (1 screw in the faceplate of the lock, then protrude the cylinder).
Measure from the center (the inner screw on the side of the cylinder) to both ends.
Add both measurements together for the total length.
For a new door or if unsure: measure the door thickness + rosette thickness on both sides, and ensure that the cylinder protrudes 2-4 mm from the rosette on the outside (too far = burglar-proof, too short = unoperable).

SKG**® / SKG2. 3 minutes resistance, minimum requirement for the Police Quality Mark for Safe Living for residential front door.
SKG***® / SKG3. 5-minute resistance, recommended for villa-grade and residential homes with an elevated risk profile.

SKG3 cylinders feature extra drill protection (hardened steel pins to prevent drilling), anti-pick technology (sliders that make picking difficult), and anti-bumping (bumping-attack protection). In combination with SKG3 security hardware with core pull protection, you form a complete villa-grade front door lock.

Keyed alike cylinders

Keyed alike means that 2 or more cylinders can be operated with the same key. This is convenient for residents who want one key for the front door, back door, and shed, or for businesses with multiple interior doors requiring the same access. The manufacturer produces cylinders with identical pin settings, allowing one key profile to operate all cylinders. Maintenance

Apply a single drop of graphite or Teflon lock lubricant to the cylinder keyhole annually (not oil or WD-40, as these mix with dust to form a stiffening layer). If the key is stiff: try lubricating spray first before replacing the cylinder.

Lost your key. What then?

In the event of the loss of an SKG cylinder key, you can request new keys via your original order. We manage your SI card for M&C cylinders and patent registration with DOM. Keys are only issued after identification and a copy of the SI card. For those who wish to replace the cylinder entirely for security reasons: order a new set of custom cylinders with a different key code.
