Lacquered brass safety rosette Square
Square lacquered brass security rosette. SKG3 cylinder rosette for square front door fittings in stable mirrored brass
A brass-lacquered square security rosette is a square cylinder rosette for the front door cylinder hole, made of solid brass with an acrylic lacquer coating. Thanks to progressive polishing followed by a thin protective lacquer layer, the mirror-gold surface remains stable for 5-10 years without patination. The square shape complements modern style and square or rectangular front door hardware (Hardbrass Pragma, Olivari square, Intersteel SKG3 versions with square rosettes). The rosette visually covers the cylinder hole and is available in the SKG3 version. It features a recessed steel core pull ring that prevents a burglar from forcibly pulling the cylinder core out of the lock. For classic villas with rounded facade detailing, the round shape is the logical match (see spoke page).
At Deurbeslag Expert, you will find 2 square brass-lacquered security escutcheons from Intersteel in SKG3 version with core pull protection. Lacquered brass for long-term color fastness. Suitable for front door thickness 38-65 mm, M5 fixing, for mounting on SKG2/SKG3 cylinder locks.
Square vs. round. Shape choice
The choice of shape is purely aesthetic and depends on the other front door hardware:
- Square or rectangular (this range). Matches square or rectangular front door hardware, modern style, Hardbrass Pragma, Olivari sets with square rosettes.
- Round (see Round lacquered brass security rosette). Matches round/oval front door hardware, classic villa, Dieckmann Europa/Kronos.
The safety function is identical in both forms; only the visual connection differs.
What is core pull protection
Core pulling protection is a recessed steel ring around the cylinder core that prevents a burglar from securing a screw or claw wrench in the cylinder core and forcibly pulling it out of the lock. Core pulling attacks are responsible for approximately 60% of successful cylinder burglaries in the Netherlands. Core pulling protection is mandatory for SKG3 classification; it is included as standard in this range.
SKG levels explained
- SKG1. 15-second resistance, for interior door or outbuilding.
- SKG**®. 3 minutes resistance, minimum requirement for the Police Quality Mark for Safe Living for the residential front door.
- SKG***® (SKG3). 5 minutes resistance, recommended for villa-grade and residential homes with an elevated risk profile.
Lacquered vs other brass finishes
At the time of purchase, lacquered is visually identical to polished. Both have a mirror finish. The difference lies in the long-term performance:
- Lacquered (this category). Acrylic lacquer coating for a stable mirror finish for 5-10 years; no patination and no maintenance.
- Polished. Mirror finish without lacquer layer, develops a natural patina in 2-5 years.
- Tumbled. Soft matte due to mechanical polishing drum.
- Unlacquered. Open brass with factory shine, freely patinable.
- Titanium-PVD. 15+ years UV stable.
How do you measure a security rosette
Three dimensions determine the fit: PC dimension of the cylinder hole (55, 72, or 92 mm. Measure the distance from the handle hole to the cylinder), cylinder through-hole diameter (Euro profile 17 mm standard), and door thickness (38-65 mm for a front door). M5 screws and instructions are included. For a 1-to-1 replacement, send a photo of your existing cylinder lock to info@deurbeslag-expert.nl.
Combine with your front door package
The square lacquered rosette matches: Lacquered brass front door hardware, Lacquered brass security rosette. All shapes, Lacquered brass front door knob, Lacquered brass back door hardware on backplate, All brass door hardware.
Or choose another finish
Square rosette in alternative brass finish: Tumbled brass safety rosette (soft matte), Titanium-PVD brass safety rosette (15+ years UV stable). In other colors: Stainless steel safety rosette, Black safety rosette, Bronze safety rosette.
Maintenance
Clean lacquered brass with a damp microfiber cloth and mild soap. Do not use a scouring pad, ammonia, acetone, or brass polish, as these would damage the lacquer layer. Apply a drop of graphite lock lubricant to the keyhole of the cylinder once a year (no oil or WD-40).
