Tumbled brass safety rosette
Tumbled brass security rosette. All shapes SKG3 cylinder rosette in matte gold finish
A tumbled brass security rosette is a cylinder rosette for the front door cylinder hole. It visually covers the cylinder, and in the SKG3 version, it also features a recessed steel core pull ring that prevents a burglar from pulling the cylinder core out of the lock. The rosette is screwed through the door onto the SKG3 cylinder, thereby forming the burglar-resistant shield around the cylinder itself. The tumbled brass finish is mechanically processed by rotary tumbling with ceramic grinding stones. This gives the rosette a subtle matte gold appearance without a mirror-like shine, suitable for classic front door hardware, monumental townhouses, and 1930s homes. This main collection contains all shape variants (round, oval, square); click through to the specific shape page for the corresponding front door hardware.
At Deurbeslag Expert, you will find 3 tumbled brass security escutcheons from Intersteel in SKG3 finish. Currently, all are available in a round shape, two with core pull protection and one without. Square or oval variants in the same tumbled brass finish are ordered on request; email your inquiry to info@deurbeslag-expert.nl with a photo of the shape of your front door fitting.
Core pull protection. When required
Core pulling protection is a recessed steel ring around the cylinder core that blocks core pulling attacks (where a burglar attempts to pull the core out of the lock with a screw or claw wrench). Core pulling is responsible for approximately 60% of successful cylinder burglaries in the Netherlands. The Police Quality Mark Veilig Wonen mandates core pulling protection for every new front door installation; many home insurance policies require core pulling protection as part of the SKG3 certification. A core-pulling-resistant rosette suffices in limited cases for an interior door or outbuilding without an insurance requirement.
SKG levels explained
- SKG1. 15-second resistance, for interior door or outbuilding.
- SKG**®. 3 minutes resistance, minimum requirement for the Police Quality Mark for Safe Living for the residential front door.
- SKG***® (SKG3). 5 minutes resistance, recommended for villa-grade and residential homes with an elevated risk profile.
All rosettes in this category are SKG3 certified.
Shape selection
The shape of the rosette is chosen based on the overall front door hardware design:
- Round (see Round tumbled brass security rosette). Matches round/oval front door hardware, classic style.
- Square or rectangular. Matches square or rectangular front door hardware, modern style (ordered in tumbled brass on request).
- Oval. Matches Hardbrass Pragma/Silvia or similar oval front door hardware (on request).
How do you measure a security rosette
Three dimensions determine the fit: PC dimension of the cylinder hole (55, 72, or 92 mm. Measure the distance between the handle hole and the cylinder), cylinder through-hole diameter (Euro profile 17 mm standard), and door thickness (38-65 mm for a front door). M5 screws and instructions are included. For custom shapes in tumbled brass, square, rectangular, or oval variants can be ordered upon request. Please consult in advance via info@deurbeslag-expert.nl with a photo of the front door hardware.
Combine with your tumbled brass front door hardware
A complete front door set in tumbled brass combines: Tumbled brass front door hardware (SKG3 set), Tumbled brass front door knob, Tumbled round brass security rosette, Full tumbled brass door hardware.
Or choose another finish

Maintenance
Clean a damp microfiber cloth with mild soap monthly. Do not use a scouring pad, ammonia, acetone, or brass polish on the tumbled finish. For the cylinder mechanism, apply a single drop of graphite lock lubricant to the keyhole once a year (no oil or WD-40). If the lock is stiff, try lubricating spray first before replacing the cylinder.
