Polished brass safety rosette Round
Round polished brass safety rosette. Mirror-polished round cylinder rosette without protective coating
A polished round brass security rosette is a round cylinder rosette for the front door cylinder hole, made of solid brass with a mirror-polished finish. Through progressive polishing with increasingly finer polishing paste, the surface exhibits a high-gloss, mirror-like appearance. The difference compared to lacquered brass is that polished brass is supplied without a protective lacquer layer, allowing the brass to patina freely over 2-5 years to a warmer yellow-brown under the influence of air oxide, hand salt, and rain. A conscious choice for those who wish to see the natural aging of brass. A classic brass effect that suits the authentic renovation of a 1930s home, a monumental townhouse, and a classic facade where the hardware is allowed to 'live' with the building.
At Deurbeslag Expert, you will find 1 polished brass round security rosette from Dieckmann (model D7256M). Round cylinder rosette for the front door, suitable for mounting on an SKG cylinder lock. The round shape complements round or oval front door hardware elements such as Dieckmann Europa and Kronos sets, or classic villas with rounded facade detailing. For specific questions regarding core pull protection or an SKG certification report, please contact us via info@deurbeslag-expert.nl with a photo of your front door.
Polished vs. lacquered. Why choose
At the time of purchase, the mirror finish of polished and lacquered is visually identical. The difference lies in the long-term performance:
- Polished (this product). Without a protective layer, it patinates over 2-5 years to a warmer golden-brown to deep mocha; natural aging appreciated by brass enthusiasts; restoreable with brass polish if you wish to return to shiny gold.
- Lacquered. With an acrylic coating for a stable mirror tint of 5-10 years; no patination, no maintenance, but also no natural aging.
What does a security rosette do?
A security rosette has two functions: visually covering the cylinder hole and (in the SKG version with core pull protection) fitting a recessed steel ring around the cylinder core that blocks core pulling attacks. A core pulling attack occurs when a burglar gains a grip on the cylinder core with a screw or claw wrench and forcibly pulls it out of the lock. Approximately 60% of successful cylinder burglaries in the Netherlands are committed using this method. Core pull protection is mandatory for SKG3 classification.
Round vs. square. Shape choice
The choice of shape is purely aesthetic and depends on the other front door hardware:
- Round (this product). Matches round/oval front door hardware, classic villa with rounded elements, Dieckmann Europa/Kronos.
- Square or rectangular. Matches square or rectangular front door hardware, modern style.
How do you measure a security rosette
Three dimensions determine the fit: PC dimension of the cylinder hole (55, 72, or 92 mm. Measure the distance from the handle hole to the cylinder), cylinder through-hole diameter (Euro profile 17 mm standard), and door thickness (38-65 mm for a front door). M5 screws and mounting instructions are included. For a 1-to-1 replacement, please send a photo of the existing cylinder lock and front door to info@deurbeslag-expert.nl.
Combine with your front door package

Maintenance
For those who want to preserve the mirror shine: polish once a month with brass polish and a soft polishing cloth. No scouring pad. For those who want to see the patina: only a damp microfiber cloth with mild soap, no brass polish. Annually, put a drop of graphite lock lubricant in the cylinder keyhole (no oil or WD-40).
