Brushed stainless steel square security rosette. SKG-compliant core pull ring with sleek geometry for the modern front door

The brushed stainless steel security rosette in a square design is the SKG-certified, geometrically sleek variant of a cylinder rosette for front and back doors. An AISI 304 stainless steel exterior with a steel core pull ring behind the rosette prevents a burglar from gaining access to the inside of the lock using a core pulling attack (where a screw is drilled into the cylinder and then pulled out with great force). The square shape (50×50 mm) matches modern door handles on square rosettes and rectangular long security escutcheons. A consistent design for architect-designed homes and modern new builds. The difference compared to a standard square profile cylinder rosette is essential: a standard rosette is purely aesthetic (covers the cylinder for a sleek appearance), while a security rosette physically protects the cylinder against burglary attacks via the steel core pull ring. At Deurbeslag Expert, you will find 3 square brushed stainless steel security rosettes from Intersteel and Hardbrass.

SKG levels and when which level?

SKG**® (2 stars) offers a minimum of 3 minutes of resistance against core pulling attacks and is the PKVW minimum (Police Quality Mark for Safe Living). Often mandatory for homeowners insurance. Suitable for standard terraced houses, semi-detached houses, and apartments in normal residential areas. SKG***® (3 stars) offers 5 minutes of resistance with additional requirements against core pulling, bending, and advanced drilling methods. Highly recommended for corner houses, detached villas, homes in high-risk areas, or where burglary rates are higher. The difference between SKG** and SKG*** translates into a thicker steel core pulling ring, more breaker-resistant fastening, and additional laboratory testing. For insurance policies with enhanced burglary coverage, SKG***® is sometimes mandatory.

When do you choose the square version?

The square shape visually complements modern and minimalist front doors where straight lines and clean geometry take center stage. For door handles on a square rosette or rectangular long security escutcheons, the square security rosette is the logical match for visual consistency. In architect-designed homes where square geometry is incorporated across the entire front door, the square security rosette completes the package. For modern new-builds with an aluminium front door in white or anthracite, the square shape universally suits the sleek aluminium look. For classic villas with panel doors, a round or oval security rosette usually fits better than a square one.

Dimensions and execution

External dimensions 50×50 mm square. Dutch standard. Cylinder cross-section 30, 33, or 38 mm depending on the European PC cylinder version. Cylinder overhang maximum 3 mm. With a larger overhang, additional core pull-ring reinforcement is required to guarantee burglary resistance. Screw spacing 38 mm center-to-center as standard. Thickness 12-18 mm due to integrated steel core pull-ring behind the visible stainless steel rosette. SKG level optionally available as SKG**® or SKG***®. Stainless steel quality AISI 304 for standard outdoor climates up to 10 km from the sea, AISI 316 marine-grade for coastal locations.

Difference compared to a standard profile cylinder rosette

A standard stainless steel square profile cylinder rosette is an aesthetic cover element without core pull protection: it covers the cylinder for a sleek appearance around the PC cylinder opening, but offers no burglary resistance. Suitable for interior doors where an SKG certification is not required. A stainless steel security rosette, on the other hand, has a built-in steel core pull ring behind the visible stainless steel rosette. This provides physical protection against core pull attacks on the cylinder. This is mandatory for front and back doors with an SKG requirement; unnecessary for interior doors. In short: standard profile cylinder rosette for interior doors (aesthetic), security rosette for front and back doors (SKG compliant).

Stainless steel square safety rosette in your facade

In modern new-builds with an aluminium front door and sleek geometry: a square security rosette completes the visual package together with other square hardware. In architect-designed homes with an explicitly modern design: a square provides a consistent design language throughout the entire front door. In corner houses and detached villas: combine an SKG***® version for maximum burglary resistance. In terraced houses with an SKG**® requirement for insurance: standard SKG**® suffices for the PKVW certification. In coastal locations within 10 km of the sea: choose AISI 316 marine-grade for chloride resistance. For classic villas with panel doors, a round or oval version usually fits better than a square one.

Installation and maintenance

Remove the existing cylinder rosette by unscrewing the screws on the front and back of the door. Check that the cylinder overhang is no more than 3 mm. A reinforced core pull ring is required for a larger overhang. Install the new security rosette on both sides of the door with the steel core pull ring facing outwards. Secure with the supplied longer bolts that grip through the steel core pull ring. Tighten manually to avoid stripping the threads. Test by performing 5 closing cycles. The cylinder must turn without resistance, and the rosette must be securely fastened without play. Clean once a month with a microfiber cloth and lukewarm water in the direction of the brush pattern. Avoid scouring pads, ammonia, and acetone.
