PC size 55, 72, or 92 mm. Center-to-center distance between the handle hole and the cylinder opening of the lock. Always check the PC size of your existing back door lock before ordering. Rosette diameter Ø50-53 mm for the round version. Square spindle 7 or 8 mm. The Dutch standard is 8 mm on modern locks. Lock backset 50, 55, or 60 mm depending on the existing lock. Knob shape usually mushroom or spherical for a classic look, round, flat, or square for a modern look. Installation of stainless steel back door hardware set
First, remove the existing back door hardware: remove the screws on the inside. Check if the PC dimension and backset of the new set match the existing cylinder lock. If the dimensions differ, you must also replace the lock. Slide the spindle through the handle hole in the door. Place the exterior element (knob with rosette) and the interior element (handle with rosette) against each other. Secure with the supplied through-bolts that go from the inside through the door to the outside. Tighten manually. Do not use a cordless drill. Test by closing, opening, and locking the door 5 times. Keep the second key (for SKG cylinders) in a safe place inside for emergencies.
Maintenance of stainless steel back door hardware set
Clean once a month with a microfiber cloth and lukewarm water in the direction of the brush strokes. Avoid scouring pads, ammonia, acetone, and chlorine-based cleaners. For coastal locations: rinse with fresh water once a month to remove white salt deposits. Lubricate the cylinder twice a year with graphite powder or lock spray. Never use oil or WD-40. Check once a year that the through-bolts are still securely tightened.
