Nickel Profile Cylinder Rosette Rectangular
A rectangular profile cylinder rosette is the visible cover element surrounding a profile cylinder lock in an interior door. It consists of a rectangular metal plate (typically 50×35 mm to 165×40 mm extended) with a central oval recess (17 mm wide × 33 mm high) through which the profile cylinder passes. Unlike round or square versions, the rectangular shape a distinct horizontal line that stands out geometrically. It suits industrial or sleek contemporary doors, and in the extended version (165 mm or more), doors where both a key recess and a handle are integrated into a single plate. In the nickel collection at Deurbeslag Expert, you will find 6 rectangular profile cylinder rosettes from two brands: Intersteel (Dutch since 1959. Rectangular profile cylinder hole rosette Nickel and Matte Nickel, plus two Extended Rectangular versions for longer door recesses) and Ton (classic Dutch design brand. Ton cylinder rosette with rectangular rosette in matte nickel and polished nickel).
When do you choose rectangular?
The choice of shape between rectangular (this collection), square (see nickel profile cylinder rosette square), and round (see nickel profile cylinder rosette round) depends on the rest of your door hardware package and interior style. Choose rectangular when: your door handle is mounted on a rectangular or elongated rosette (visual consistency of shape); your interior is sleek modern or industrial with other rectangular design elements; you need an extended version where the PC cylinder and handle are housed in a single rosette. Choose square or round: for classic and standard contemporary interiors. When in doubt, choose the same shape as your handle rosette. Visual consistency between the handle side and the cylinder side of the door is always more pleasing to the eye.
Standard rectangular versus extended
Two main versions are distinguished within the rectangular shape. Standard rectangular (common 50×35 mm). Intersteel Rosette profile cylinder hole Rectangular Nickel, Ton Cylinder rosette with rectangular rosette. Only for the profile cylinder recess, comparable to a square or round rosette but in a long, narrow shape. Extended rectangular (common 165×35 mm or longer). Intersteel Rosette profile cylinder hole Rectangular Extended Matte Nickel (two versions). Longer version that can have a second recess for a handle, key, or security mechanism. For modern doors with integrated handle + cylinder in one long rosette (common in hotels and office installations).
Two brands in this collection
Two brands, each with its own positioning. Intersteel (Dutch since 1959). The most popular brand in the Dutch market, with four versions in this rectangular nickel collection. Rectangular Nickel profile cylinder hole rosette (polished nickel) and Matte Nickel (dampened), plus two Extended Rectangular versions in Matte Nickel for more extensive door applications. A common Dutch residential construction brand: affordable, functional, and the widest range. Ton (classic Dutch design brand). Ton cylinder rosette with a rectangular rosette in two finishes (matte nickel and gloss nickel). Ton distinguishes itself with a classic character. Suitable for monumental renovations where a contemporary rectangle must still work in a 1930s home. Higher price than Intersteel, with classic design details.
Two nickel finishes
We divide the models into two finish categories. Matte nickel (muted). Intersteel matte versions and Extended versions, Ton matte nickel. Satin-silver tint without reflection, more fingerprint-resistant, suits modern contemporary interiors and office environments. Gloss nickel (polished). Intersteel Rosette profile cylinder hole Rectangular Nickel (polished), Ton Cylinder rosette gloss. Reflective soft silver sheen, classic appearance, suits Art Deco interiors and 1930s homes. When in doubt: for modern, choose matte nickel; for classic modern (rectangular shape in a classic villa), choose gloss nickel.
Sizes and compatibility
Three dimensions determine whether a rectangular profile cylinder rosette fits your door. Rosette outer dimensions: standard rectangular is commonly 50×35 mm to 60×40 mm; extended version 165×35 mm or longer (depending on the specific model). Measure the existing rosette dimensions when replacing. Cylinder pass-through cutout: 17 mm round wide × 33 mm high oval. Standard European profile cylinder. Fits common PC cylinders from Nemef, Cisa, ABUS, Pfaffenhain, Yale, BURG-WÄCHTER. Mounting drilling distance: 38 mm center-to-center Dutch standard for standard rectangular; extended version has 2-3 screw positions depending on rosette length. Plate thickness: 5-7 mm; thicker gives a more robust feel. Door thickness: commonly 38-50 mm. All versions fit.
Combine with other nickel door hardware
The rectangular profile cylinder rosette is one component of the complete rosette package per door. Nickel profile cylinder rosette square and nickel profile cylinder rosette round as alternative shapes. Nickel rosettes collection category for all types. Nickel key plates for classic mortise key versions. Rosette head hub for all colors. Rectangular profile cylinder rosette head hub for all colors in rectangular shape. For matching door handles: nickel door handles on rosette, matte nickel door handles on rosette. For matching cylinder lock: cylinder locks, nickel cylinder locks. For the PC cylinder itself: SKG 3-star cylinders. Hubs: nickel door hardware, matte nickel door hardware.
Assembly
A DIY job of 5-10 minutes per rosette. 1. Remove existing rosette (if present): loosen 2 x M4 screws, remove the old rosette. Check that the profile cylinder recess in the door fits the new rosette. Some older recesses are 14 mm round instead of 17 mm × 33 mm oval; in this case, extra routing is required. For extended versions: drill extra screw holes if the drilling distance differs from the existing ones. 2. Position new rosette: center the rosette around the profile cylinder recess. For rectangular versions: one long edge must lie horizontally or vertically for tight positioning. Ask yourself which orientation best suits the door frame. 3. Screw in: use the supplied M4 screws in a matching nickel finish, tighten hand-tight. Test by inserting and removing the key.
Maintenance per finish
Two maintenance routines. Matte nickel (Intersteel matte versions, Ton matte nickel): damp microfiber cloth 1-2 times a year, no polish paste (scratches the matte structure). Avoid ammonia, acetone, and vinegar. Gloss nickel (Intersteel polished, Ton gloss nickel): wipe water stains dry immediately, use a damp microfiber cloth for dirt. Avoid scouring pads. For a lasting soft shine, optionally apply a layer of furniture wax once a year (very thin, then polish with a dry cloth). For both finishes: avoid chlorine-based cleaners and acetone (nail polish remover). These can dull the coating over time. Profile cylinder mechanism: in case of stiff key operation, apply dry graphite or Teflon spray into the key opening once a year (NOT WD-40 or oil. Attracts dust and causes the pin mechanism to seize).
