Buy door viewers for the front door, classic or digital

Door viewers are peephole elements in the front door. They allow you to see who is at the door without opening it. We carry models ranging from classic analog door viewers (Intersteel Door Viewer 180° viewing angle in black, chrome, and lacquered brass, Dulimex Door Viewer 200° Ø16mm black, HDD Pro Peephole Black and Stainless Steel 26/22-35mm) to digital door cameras (Intersteel Digital Door Camera DDV 3.0 and Basic, HDD Digital Door Camera Stainless Steel).

What exactly is a peephole?

A peephole is a small viewing hole in the front door that allows you to see visitors without opening the door. Classic analog peepholes consist of a wide-angle lens (135-200° viewing angle) that allows you to look directly through the door. This is a standard security feature for front doors where you want to screen visitors before opening the door, especially at night or when someone knocks unexpectedly.

For modern digital versions (Intersteel DDV 3.0, HDD Digital Door Camera), there is a camera unit on the outside plus an LCD display on the inside. Much better visibility plus extra features such as day/night vision and motion detection. For the broader Digital door viewercategory, see all digital versions.

What is the difference between analog and digital?

An analog peephole is a simple lens. No electronics, no batteries, no maintenance. Cheap (€10-€30) and reliable. It works by placing your eye against the viewing hole and looking directly. Limitation: only looks straight ahead, no wide-angle view, no dark vision.

The digital door viewer (door camera) features a wide-angle 130° camera plus an LCD display on the inside. It offers a much wider field of view, day/night vision via infrared, motion detection, and optional photo/video recording. Compared to analog, it is much more practical but more expensive (€50-€200) and battery-dependent. For the specific Digital door viewercategory, see all modern versions.

Which viewing angle suits which door?

A 180° viewing angle (Intersteel Door Viewer) is standard for a regular front door. It is sufficient for seeing people directly in front of the door. A 200° viewing angle (Dulimex Door Viewer Ø16mm) is wider. You can also see people to the side of the door, which is useful if the front door is situated in a deep porch. For a villa with a front door directly on the facade, 180° works perfectly.

The tube diameter (Ø16mm, Ø22mm, Ø26mm) refers to the lens diameter. A larger lens provides better visibility but requires a larger hole in the door. HDD Pro Peephole 26/22-35mm refers to the door thickness range it fits. Fits doors from 22mm to 35mm thick.

Which finishes do we offer?

Black (Intersteel, Dulimex, HDD Pro) is for a modern home. Modern appearance. Chrome (Intersteel) is for a classic front door. Lacquered brass (Intersteel) is for a classic country house with a brass statement. Stainless steel/stainless steel look (HDD Pro, HDD Digitale) is for a modern villa with a stainless steel package.

For consistency through your front door: choose the peephole finish that matches your rest of the front door hardware package. For a classic home, choose lacquered brass; for a modern villa, choose black or stainless steel. For the broader front door hardwarecategory, see all front door elements.

How does this fit into your villa security package?

For a complete villa access package, combine the peephole with other visitor screening elements: announcement doorbells , electronic cylinders for access control, plus security hardware with SKG3 versions.

For a modern villa with smart home integration, choose a digital door viewer with Wi-Fi modules. For a classic villa making a traditional statement, the analog Intersteel Door Viewer 180° works perfectly. For the broader keypadscategory, see electronic access elements.
