Electronic locks
What exactly are electronic locks?
Electronic locks are modern cylinder locks that provide access via digital identification. A key tag, smartphone app, PIN code, or fingerprint replaces a physical key. For a villa, office, or holiday home where you want to manage access flexibly (temporary access for a cleaner, landlord, or guests), this is a convenient solution.
Advantages: no keys lost or copied, access can be registered per person in the app, option to grant or revoke temporary access. Disadvantages: battery-dependent (replacement every 1-2 years), electronic malfunctions possible, higher purchase costs than a classic cylinder. For the broader cylindercategory, see all classic and electronic versions.
What is the difference between DOM Tapkey and DOM ENiQ?
DOM Tapkey is a smartphone-controlled system. You use the Tapkey app on your phone to open the door via Bluetooth or NFC. Plus a key tag version for those who prefer not to use a phone. Tapkey is ideal for villas with multiple residents or for rental properties where you grant guests access via the app. Access can be set by the hour, day, or week.
DOM ENiQ is a more professional system for commercial applications (office, school, hospital). More advanced access control with a central management server. ENiQ Half Knob Cylinder, Single-Sided and Double-Sided Access Control are different versions for various door types. LoQ Lever Lock is for specific commercial door types with a lever mechanism.
What is BURG-WÄCHTER ENTRY?
BURG-WÄCHTER is a German premium manufacturer of security systems. The ENTRY series is their line of electronic cylinders. ENTRY Home 5000 is for residential use. It is a basic electronic cylinder with remote control (ENTRY 7711 Keypad). SecuENTRY Pro 7000 is for professional applications with more advanced access control.
The ENTRY 7711 Keypad is an external code control. You enter a PIN code to operate the electronic cylinder. This works ideally for a front door where you want to provide guests with a temporary code. For the broader BURG-WÄCHTERcategory, see all versions from the German brand.
What is the difference between single-sided and double-sided access control?
Single-sided access control means that you only gain electronic access from the outside. From the inside, you simply open it with a rotary knob. This works for a front door where you want to open the interior quickly. Double-sided access control means that you must identify yourself electronically from both sides. This is suitable for extra security on an office door or for commercial applications where you want to register both sides.
For residential applications, choose single-sided. Simple and secure. For commercial or security applications, choose double-sided for maximum access control. For the broader of cylinder lockswith classic designs, see the complete collection.
How does this fit into your villa security package?
For a complete villa security package, combine electronic locks with other prevention elements: keypads for additional operation, hazard alarms for fire and CO detection, and safes for storing valuables. Plus security hardware with SKG3 versions for mechanical security.
For those who want to use both classic and electronic keys: choose a hybrid system like DOM Tapkey, where both a key tag and a smartphone app work. For the broader DOMcategory with all versions, see the complete collection.
