Safes
Which types of safes does Deurbeslag Expert carry?
Our collection consists entirely of Burg-Wächter Pure-Safe models, a German premium brand focusing on home and office safes. Two main types: furniture safes (Pure-Safe PS 110 to PS 140) that are mounted in a cabinet or freestanding, and hotel safes (PS 110 E KA 3 and PS 130 E KA 4) specifically designed for hotel rooms with reinforced mounting. For those wishing to safely store their laptop during a vacation or business trip, we offer the Pure-Safe PS 130 E LAP KA 4. A laptop safe with extra space for 17-inch notebooks plus charger.
Sizes range from small (PS 110, approximately 10 liters capacity) to medium (PS 140, approximately 23 liters). For a home containing passports, small jewelry, and cash, the PS 110 is spacious enough. For those who also wish to store A4-sized documents, opt for the PS 130 or PS 140. For heavier items, such as a valuable inheritance or business documents, we are happy to discuss larger models that we can supply upon request.
Key or electronic lock. What is the difference?
The model name indicates the locking type: K stands for Key (key-operated), E for Electronic (PIN code via keypad), and FP for Fingerprint (fingerprint reader). A key safe (PS 110 K, PS 120 K, PS 130 K) is the most reliable system because no batteries can run out and no electronics can malfunction. However, you must keep the key safe yourself. Loss of the key means that a locksmith must use destructive opening methods.
Electronic versions (PS 110 E, PS 140 E) work with a 4-digit PIN code that you set and can change yourself. Advantage: no key worries, fast operation. Disadvantage: the batteries (4 x AA) need to be replaced every 2-3 years, and if the batteries run out, you can open the safe using a backup key. The fingerprint version (PS 140 E FP) is the most advanced. It registers up to 30 fingerprints, ideal for families where multiple people need access without sharing a PIN.
How safe is a Burg-Wächter Pure-Safe safe?
The Pure-Safe series is certified according to EN 14450 Security Level S1. This is a European standard that tests for resistance to attempted break-ins with crowbars, drills, and hammers for 5–10 minutes. For residential use and office storage, this is more than sufficient. For high-risk storage (jewelers, banks), you would recommend looking at EN 1143-1 Grade 0 or higher. Those safes weigh 50+ kg and are genuinely anti-burglary tested. We supply those upon request.
The interior of the Pure-Safe features a padded mat to protect your items from scratches during movement. The door closes with multiple steel pins that anchor in the corners of the safe, ensuring the door itself does not act as a weak point. However, it is good to know that Burg-Wächter is not fire-resistant certified. For fire-resistant storage of documents, you would need a separate fireproof safe. We are happy to discuss broader options for those seeking this.
Where is the best place in the house?
The optimal location for a furniture safe is invisible to visitors and inaccessible to burglars via standard entry points. Many people automatically think of the bedroom closet. Wrong; that is precisely the place burglars look first. Better locations are spaces they do not pay attention to: the guest room, the garage, or a parts cupboard in the utility room. Preferably in a cupboard that is self-locking and does not visually signal "I contain valuables.".
Installation is also important. A small Pure-Safe weighs 8-12 kg empty and, without securing it, could easily be carried away by a burglar to be broken open elsewhere. Therefore, always screw the safe into a wall (brick or concrete wall using chemical anchors) or into a wooden floor. The Pure-Safe has four pre-drilled holes in the back and/or bottom for M8 bolts. Our advisors will be happy to send you the installation instructions if you are unsure about the correct location.
Combine with your front door security
A safe is the last line of defense, but your home security starts at the front door. For optimal effect, combine the Pure-Safe with a well-secured front door. Certified cylinders in SKG2 or SKG3, matching front door hardware on a backplate with core pull protection, and a multi-point locking system on the front door for extra burglary resistance. For those who want to work with the cylinder itself, knob cylinders the convenience of no key inside, and see custom cylinders for keyed-alike systems for multiple doors.
For the broader security package, see security fittings and surface-mounted locks. For insurance requirements, you can check whether the Police Quality Mark for Safe Living (PKVW) applies to your home. With PKVW-A, an SKG-approved safe is mandatory for household contents above a certain amount.
