Tumbled Brass Door Handles
Tumbled brass door handles. Main collection all handles in a matte gold tumbled finish
Tumbled brass door handles is the main collection featuring all interior door handles (door handles / door knobs. Synonym) in solid brass with a tumbled finish. The tumbled process involves mechanical polishing by rotary tumbling with ceramic grinding stones. It provides a soft, matte, natural-looking brass appearance with a subtle matte gold tint, without factory shine. Suitable for 1930s homes, listed mansions, classic interior doors, and modern renovations where the warmth of brass is desired without the hardness of mirror-polished brass. This main collection includes handle models on both rosettes (compact) and backplates (elongated), plus several SKG3 security hardware sets with a handle-to-handle configuration for interior doors with cylinder locks.
At Deurbeslag Expert, you will find 23 tumbled brass door handles, primarily from Intersteel (models Sophie, Palma, Trento, Banaan, Antonnet, LL Bol, Ton 400, Ton 222, Luzern, Amsterdam, Jura, Combinatie in both standard tumbled brass and premium PVD finishes with 15+ years of UV resistance), Aprile (Bellisa Ø52x7mm and Kerria on a round rosette in antique brass), and Artitec Mi Satori (Ton antique ebony brass). The Ton series combines an ebony handle with brass finials. A classic 1930s design that still finds its place in modern interiors.
Standard vs PVD version
A number of Intersteel models are available in both standard tumbled and PVD finishes. The visual difference is minimal. The matte gold tint is identical in both cases. However, the difference lies in color stability:
- Standard tumbled brass. Physical surface treatment without coating; the underlying brass patinates to a warmer golden-brown in 5-15 years (appreciated by brass enthusiasts).
- PVD tumbled brass. Physical-vapor-deposition coating 0.8-2 micron, hardness 4000-4500 HV, colorfast 15+ years without patination. For outdoor locations, intensive hand contact, or where the matte gold tint must remain stable.
On rosette vs. on shield. Choice
- On rosette. Two separate rosettes (handle hole + cylinder); more compact, modern, suits a sleek renovation without a large recess for the old hardware.
- On backplate. Elongated metal plate covering the entire handle hole area; classic for 1930s panel doors where the original recess is large.
How do you measure door handles
Four dimensions determine the fit: spindle (8 mm square for standard interior doors, 7 mm for windows. Not interchangeable), rosette or backplate size (ø49-53 mm round, 38×38 or 53×53 mm square rosette, 181×41-236×44 mm oblong backplate), PC dimension (55 mm for interior door cylinder, 72-92 mm for front doors), and door thickness (38-44 mm for interior doors, 38-65 mm for front doors). For a 1-to-1 replacement, please send a photo of the existing hardware with a ruler to info@deurbeslag-expert.nl.
Combine with matching tumbled brass interior
Tumbled brass door handles on rosette, Tumbled brass door handles on backplate, Fully tumbled brass door hardware, Brass ball bearing hinges, Brass cylinder locks, Brass rosettes.
Or choose another finish
Same handle models in alternative brass finish: Brass door handles, Lacquered brass door handles (mirror finish), Unlacquered brass door handles (patination-free), Titanium-PVD brass door handles (UV stable for 15+ years).
Maintenance
Clean weekly with a damp microfiber cloth and mild soap. Do not use scouring pads, ammonia, acetone, or brass polish on the tumbled finish. PVD versions accept the same treatment for 15+ years. The standard tumbled finish patinates to a warmer golden-brown over 5-15 years; no maintenance required. Just keep clean.
