Lacquered Brass Door Handles
Lacquered brass door handles. Main collection of all interior door handles in stable mirrored brass
Lacquered brass door handles is the main collection featuring all interior door handles (door handles / door knobs. Synonym) in solid brass with an acrylic lacquer finish. The lacquer layer consists of a thin acrylic coating on polished brass. It maintains the mirror-like warm gold tone for 5-10 years without patination, making it ideal for those who desire the look of classic, shiny brass without the need for maintenance-free hardware or natural aging. Suitable for 1930s homes, listed mansions, classic interior doors, and modern renovations where the warmth of brass is desired in a permanently bright gold finish. This main collection includes handle models on a rosette (compact) as well as on a backplate (elongated), plus several SKG3 security hardware sets with a handle-to-handle configuration for interior doors with cylinder locks.
At Deurbeslag Expert, you will find 24 lacquered brass door handles, primarily from Intersteel (models Emily, Saturnus, Helena, Cosmos, Sigaar, Jupiter, Vlinder, Jura, Combinatie, Amsterdam in both standard lacquered brass and PVD versions), HDD Pro (Pro Cosmic, Vera, X-treme, Vito, Seliz, Mirca, Kubic Shape, Hashtag in lacquered and polished brass), and Aprile (Azalia Polished Gold on a round rosette. Sleek modernist line). A number of models are available in a PVD version for heavier loads or intensive use (15+ years UV stable).
Standard painted vs. PVD version
A number of Intersteel models are available in both standard brass-lacquered and PVD finishes. The visual difference is minimal (both mirror-like warm gold), but the difference lies in color stability:
- Lacquered brass. Acrylic lacquer coating, color stable for 5-10 years. Sufficient for normal indoor use.
- PVD Brass. Physical-vapor-deposition coating, 0.8-2 microns, hardness 4000-4500 HV, 15+ years UV-stable and scratch-resistant. For intensive manual contact (Airbnb, office) or for the inside of a south-facing front door where sun exposure would cause the paint layer to discolor more quickly.
On rosette vs. on shield. Choice
- On rosette. Two separate rosettes (handle hole + cylinder); more compact, modern, suits a sleek renovation.
- On backplate. Elongated metal plate covering the entire handle hole area; classic for 1930s panel doors.
How do you measure door handles
Four dimensions determine fit: spindle (8 mm square for standard interior door, 7 mm for window. Not interchangeable), rosette or backplate size (ø49-55 mm round, 38×38 or 53×53 mm square rosette, 181×41-236×44 mm oblong backplate), PC dimension (55 mm for interior door cylinder, 72-92 mm for front door), and door thickness (38-44 mm interior door, 38-65 mm front door).
Combine with matching brass interior
Lacquered brass door handles on rosette, Lacquered brass door handles on backplate, Lacquered brass door hardware, Brass ball bearing hinges, Brass cylinder locks, Brass rosettes.
Or choose another finish
Same handle models in alternative brass finish: Brass door handles (all finishes), Tumbled brass door handles (soft matte), Unlacquered brass door handles (patinate-free), Titanium-PVD brass door handles (15+ years UV stable).
Maintenance
Lacquered brass: damp microfiber cloth with mild soap, avoid scouring pads and brass polish. PVD finish also accepts the same treatment for 15+ years.
