Stainless steel sliding door system. Timeless stainless steel for modern sliding doors

A stainless steel sliding door system is the choice for those who want to make the rail system part of a contemporary interior style: timeless silver, fingerprint-resistant, and reliable operation for years. Stainless steel AISI 304 is resistant to moisture, making it suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, and wellness environments where other materials discolor more quickly. Our stainless steel sliding door systems support up to 80 kg per door, featuring ball-bearing rollers for whisper-quiet operation. At Deurbeslag Expert, you will find 8 stainless steel sliding door systems from Intersteel in Basic, Modern, and Classic versions.

Why choose a stainless steel sliding door system?

Stainless steel has properties that distinguish it from black or antique-finish systems. Timeless. Stainless steel suits every interior style, from modern minimalist to industrial clean and even classic modern; it is a neutral color that is not bound by trends. Rust-free. AISI 304 is resistant to moisture, making it suitable for bathrooms and kitchens where black steel or powder coating can eventually cause problems. High load capacity. 60-80 kg per door is sufficient for most solid oak doors, glass doors, or panelled MDF doors. Quiet. Ball bearing rollers ensure whisper-quiet gliding, a major difference from the noisy rail systems found in old construction projects. Combinable. The stainless steel sliding door system combines perfectly with stainless steel sliding door pulls, stainless steel door handles, and other stainless steel door hardware for a cohesive visual package.

Versions

Basic and Basic Top are the simplest rail systems. Sleek rail profile, simple roller carriages, no soft-close. Suitable for budget-conscious applications where functionality is paramount. Modern features a sleeker, flatter rail profile with more refined roller carriages and end stops. Suitable for modern villas and designer homes where the system is part of a balanced design. Classic has a thicker rail profile with classic-looking roller carriages with profiled edges. Fits classic modern renovations where the rail system aims to be part of a more traditional look. The soft-close version (available in some models) includes a hydraulic damper that allows the door to gently close to its final position over the last 10-15 cm. Essential for child safety and noise reduction in bedroom applications.

Dimensions and execution

Rail length: minimum 2 × door width plus 50-100 mm for clearance. For pocket systems: 3 × door width. Load capacity 60-80 kg per door. Allow ample margin, as solid oak doors weigh 25-35 kg per m² of surface area. Fixing to wall or ceiling with through screws; for heavy doors in plasterboard walls without wooden stud reinforcement, an additional anchoring beam is recommended. Standard door height 2030-2115 mm for Dutch homes. Clearance next to the door: sufficient for full sliding movement. An 80 cm door requires 80 cm of free wall space or an additional rail extension. Floor bottom guide: necessary to prevent lateral movement.

Stainless steel sliding door system in your interior

In modern villas with large glass-steel sections and white walls: the stainless steel rail system visually connects to the aluminum window frames and chrome kitchen accessories. In an industrial-clean style with concrete-look floors, white walls, and wooden elements: stainless steel offers a refined counterpart to the rougher materials. In contemporary loft renovations at the intersection of industrial and modern: stainless steel is more neutral than black and creates a less pronounced statement effect. A logical choice for those who do not want the rail system to visually dominate. In modern kitchens and walk-in pantries where a sliding door can close off the kitchen: stainless steel matches the other stainless steel accessories (faucet, refrigerator front, oven). For modern bathrooms and wellness areas: stainless steel is resistant to moisture and condensation, whereas black steel can discolor over time.

Maintenance of stainless steel sliding door system

Stainless steel is virtually maintenance-free. That is precisely the added value over coated or painted versions. Cleaning with a damp microfiber cloth and mild soap is sufficient for weekly cleaning. Avoid scouring pads, steel wool, chlorine, ammonia, and acetone. These damage the surface and can cause light scratches or corrosion stains. Dust in the rail profile: vacuum out once a year with a vacuum cleaner with a crevice nozzle. Lubricate the ball bearings of the roller carriages once a year with a drop of Teflon spray or silicone spray. Never use oil (it attracts dust). At coastal locations within 10 km of the sea: wipe down with fresh water once a month to prevent salt buildup. This is especially important with open windows or sliding exterior doors where salty air comes into direct contact with the system.
