What is a nameplate and how do you use it?

A nameplate is a small decorative plate for name identification. Placement: commonly on the facade next to the front door (left or right side of the doorpost) or directly on the front door above the house number. Height 1.5-1.8 m from the street. Name display: typically, the name is engraved or applied using laser or physical engraving. When ordering an Intersteel nameplate: we can arrange a suitable engraving service for you via a local engraver, or we supply the nameplate blank for self-engraving. Family or company name: typically one or two lines of engraving (family name + house number, or company name + caption). Size selection: 101×27 mm compact for one-line engraving (typically family name only). 133×50 mm standard for two lines (family name + address or profession). For monumental renovation: thicker version 133×50×6 mm with decorative border detail for an authentic monumental statement.

Intersteel. Three sizes for different applications

The models from Intersteel (Dutch mid-segment, factory in Poland, market leader for 30+ years) differ in size and finish. Intersteel Nameplate 101×27×4 mm lacquered brass: most compact version. For situations where facade space is limited, or where the nameplate needs to be small next to an existing house number and letter plate. Suitable for single-line engraving (family name only). Thickness of 4 mm creates a compact yet sturdy statement. Intersteel Nameplate 133×50×5 mm lacquered brass: most common standard size for Dutch facade applications. Two-line engraving possible (e.g., family name + "Hofstraat 12"). Thickness of 5 mm. A beautiful visual statement. Intersteel Nameplate 133×50×6 mm with lacquered brass rim: thickest version with decorative rim detail. For monumental renovation where an authentic 1930s statement is desired. Thickness of 6 mm provides a prominent appearance. When in doubt: 101×27 mm for small facade positions; 133×50×5 mm most common; 133×50×6 mm with rim for monumental applications. All three are lacquered brass for a warm gold appearance.

Sizes and compatibility

Three dimensions determine which nameplate is suitable. Length × height × thickness: 101×27×4 mm compact; 133×50×5 mm standard; 133×50×6 mm with rim, thick with rim detail. Mounting: all Intersteel nameplates have pre-drilled holes or a screw mounting system. M3 or M4 screws through the door frame or facade mortar. For facade (stone): pre-drill with a masonry drill bit + plastic plug + matching screw. For front door (wood): pre-drill with a 3-4 mm wood drill bit. Raised height from street level: 1.5-1.8 m is common for visibility and delivery reach. Next to letter plate or house number: commonly to the left or right of the front door, 5-10 cm distance to existing facade elements. For matching with the facade version: lacquered brass matches the brass doorknob, brass house number, and brass letter plate. Avoid visual conflict with other finish types on the same facade.
